Our 40 years old, 3-acre, Soil Association-certified market garden sits in the beautiful Black Mountains in the Bannau Brycheiniog National Park 5 miles from Hay on Wye. We grow vegetables using no-dig principles and have four large polytunnels.
We are developing a number of World Permaculture Food Gardens and, within them, corresponding world structures including a Mongolian Yurt, Siberian Yaranga, a North American Wigwam, a Zulu Beehive Celtic roundhouse, a Himalayan Mountain hut and Chilean Mapuche hut. Accommodation will be in an existing structure such as the Mongolian Yurt or in single rooms indoors.
We have a weekly stall at Hay on Wye market selling organic fruit & vegetable and also a range of organic herbs, fruit trees and forest-garden plants.
The Farm has strong community support and is becoming a not-for-profit CIC. We work with the Black Mountains College and provide placements for students on the Regenerative Horticulture Agro-ecology and Greenwood-working courses.
We also run Primrose Gardening Services and there will be paid work available for the Volunteer Grower to garden and also build habitat boxes, habitat towers and oak planters for sale at the market. We also take on commissions for roundhouses, live willow walls, coppice crafts and furniture.
